‘Tis a Sad Day in Denver…Frontier Airlines Moving its “Frontier”

It was just announced that 200+ Frontier Airlines’ heavy maintenance jobs, currently based here in Denver, are being moved to Milwaukee by the airline’s new owner, Republic Airways.  Apparently, they are establishing a hub in Milwaukee.
But our fair city is not the only one taking a hit because of the new Wisconsin based hub.  Roughly 100 reservation positions at Frontier’s Las Cruces, New Mexico’s facility are also moving to the new hub.
Our Mayor, John Hickenlooper, said Denver city official offered Republic “every conceivable incentive,” but still could not compete with Milwaukee’s offer of free hangar space. 

On the bright side…I’m thinking with the economy the way it is, some of Frontier’s current Denver-based employees are being offered a transfer to Milwaukee, and therefore might need some Extra Space Storage in between the move!
